So took a while cleaning the carb all new jets etc float checked and put right, 17mm, 45 idle jet and 185 main with a Quill exhaust and K&N filter, new inlet manifold rubbers have moved the carb well clear of the rear suspension, superb.

Put the tank back on and fired her up nothing but a few backfires and just didnt want to know, now I had a Brisk plug in her so deceided to put an old NGK one in to see if she would fire and just like magic fired up first time, has anyone else had any trouble with Brisk plugs?

Anyway went out for a spin and she runs real nice stalled a few times and a few pops here and there so tickover etc will need sorting and will have a check of plug condition later.

I would like to thank you all for your help and advice etc on getting my 604 running half decent again

I've had duff new plugs before, from various manufacturers. The ocasional one slips through quality controll.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Ive heard a few storys about Brisk plugs, it kinda all started when a story emerged about how some magazine got an extra 6hp out of a KTM640... I read the article & though mmm theres no way a spark plug can add BHP is there? Butin the pursuit of 60bhp & at the time having 57.4 I thought I'll have some of that....yep you guessed Total bolloxs story just another yarn tocharge 5 times as much as a "normal" NGK, they are just not worth the money like pladium & other "marketing" ploys makes you think magazines & the scribblers they employ might be taking "brown paper bags" with some goodies in to write a jackanory

Run a brisk myself, always find starting easier , extra power who knows, but always feels smoother, but that could be down to fuel, air temp.
I always think if it runs well leave it alone and enjoy.

I thoroughly agree 'Roadster604' with the "I always think if it runs well leave it alone and enjoy."
but when put on the dyno with the brisk plug we found absolutely NO extra BHP gain at all, but I found that I could buy 5 NGK plugs for the price of one Brisk.....so thats what I did, it took me ages to get my VM44 mikuni set up so it would start easy, had to get the works factory setting from RB & that gave me a datum from which to work with, but I used AVGAS (110 octane RON to get it to work well on the std ignition whizzing up & down airfield runways) I'm pretty sure the std ignition needed to be upgraded when you start to tune the "mighty Rotax" & that of course costs a tad more than a spark plug !!

with regards to any troubles with Brisk, the answer is no - this is using the multispark plug which i had on my 710 and now the Rotax too.
there is quite a few different types, but iv'e only used this type (no plug gap).

Brisk them self do not ever mention a bhp gain, they do say about better burning of fuel and in turn lower emissions, and throttle response.

not sure what magazine it was you read, but 6bhp from a spark plug is laughable!! oo unless they put on an electric plugin turbo from ebay too ;)
