Hi guys I have returned to a 604 ds after 15 yrs or so. I need a cam belt. Also have one speedo drive and off road and super moto wheels. Is there I way of knowing which wheels the drive is for. And where do I get the other drive from. I also need a starter solenoid. Basically where is the best place to obtain required parts from.
Plus how is the best method of kick starting these things if stuck. My old one always beat me. Cheers guys

engine can run backwards if stopped on compression strock, this forces sprag to run backwards which in turn starts to kill it,

Try to use decomp to start and stop, on start it lets the engine spin up, if battery is slightly under voltage it may not kick it over tdg.

The biggest sprag killer is a under charged battery
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Hi, this is someone else's advice about kicking it into life, it works for me.
Decomp on
Very slowly move the kickstart down till you hear the decomp click off
Let the kickstart return to the top
Good boot with no throttle or choke (I try to turn the throttle the wrong way so it doesn't accidentally turn when kicking)
Should start first or second kick
Starting from stone cold I find if I use choke it won’t start. I kick it with choke on a couple of times to prime and then choke off and it starts within a couple more kicks always using the procedure above

When I got mine I couldn't kick it at all until I set the crab up better, now it kicks easily but I never need to.

Cambelt already on order from Sportax. As for starting without choke never use it on my 78 Bonneville and that starts first time after standing all winter. All I need now is an off road side stand and a swing arm nut. M16 but not sure what thread. Starter solenoid not working but have an old ZX7R one that should do. Looking fwd to sorting issues and firing it up proper.

We'll have just removed the timing cover only to line up the cam pulley thru the centre line of the pulleys. And find the bottom pullybdoes not line up. The marks on the bottom pulley look gash. If I can post a pic do these look right to you guys. It is about one tooth round clockwise. The engine did run when I picked it up. How do I post pics guys would show more what I am trying to explain.

You have to be carefull when replacing the lower belt drive sprocket as it is also used for the 350, if you notice there are several keyways, if fitted wrong then the belt will be 1/2 a tooth out, the keyway should be facing up with the crank locked in place

there is a score mark on the outside to indicate

I got the DTI and checked TDC. The top pulley was close. Belt did have over 15 mm of clearance. Bottom pulley only mark on it was about 4 o'clock. I have remarked my own timing point. What did I buy.
