Well after 24 k of mainly trouble free riding it seems a new clutch may be needed. It just don't feel right and even adjusting at the clutch end its as stiff as a new grooms todger wear as before it would move when pushed with a screwdriver. Any how what would you fellow 604 riders recommend , just the friction plates or go for the full EBC clutch kit. Monty you may be getting a bell in regards to help for beer tokens. |

I would just go for the friction plates, we can mic up the discs to see if in spec. Also you will need the tool to hold the clutch whilst undoing the centre nut, which I have. I do have a good second hand set if you want |

Monty, I take that those clutch plates have been used with mineral oil, if so I will get new as I have always run synthetic and might suffer with slippage otherwise. Glad to here you have the tool, r u interested in the job. |

I'd recommend a new cable as well - makes a huge difference. Check the clutch adjuster screw and lock nut as i have seen many home made versions! Also check steels for warping on a flat surface and file the grooves out of the basket whilst its all in bits.. |

The clutch cable is only two years old. Adjuster and nut are original as I have owned the bike from 4.5 k and have had it for 13 1/2 years. (2001 model ) The rest will be checked as a matter of course. Edited by Roadster604, Sep 30 2016, 05:13 PM.
