The bearings used on both the 604 and 644 with WP forks are the same. They are standard taper needle bearings. Bearing number L45410

Remove the handle bars from the top yolk, unbolt the headlight, forks and anything else attached. Undo the yolk spindle locking pinch bolt, then undo the top nut. The top yolk should lift off (the bearing might fall out) , the bottom yolk should then pull out the bottom with the shaft/spindle.

The bottom bearing on the yolk spindle is a bitch to get off, smash the cage off and removed all the needles. I then cut a slight groove in the inner race with a dremel, then bashed it around and off the shaft with a hammer and drift. Be careful not to damage the seal/spacer under the bearing, they are expensive from CCM but KTM use the same part as well

Stick the bottom yolk in the freezer so the shaft contracts a bit, then using a suitable sized piece of pipe as a drift, knock the bearing down the shaft Note: Only knock it down on the inner race, as this will stop the rollers and cage from getting damaged.

The races in the frame can be knocked out with a drift, I used my tire irons as a drift at an angle to hit the lip of the races, Like this |\| , once removed clean up the frame and remove any corrosion. Use a big socket and hammer to gentle knock the new races in place.

Bolt it all back together, the top bearing just sits on the top race and is held in by the top yolk. Then torque up the top nut so the bearings are secure but not tight and sticking. then do up the securing bolt.

You might need to adjust the top nut after a few miles after the bearings bed in.
