Is this a rotax one?

Can anyone tell if this is a Suzuki or Rotax tank?

I know that the rotax tank needs a recess on the underside to fit over the top of the rotax engine. As I can't see the underside, is there any other way to tell?

Apparently, this one is from a 2002 Dual Sport, which I guess is a black frame bike? Is it likely to fit my grey frame 2000 rotax bike?

2002 was a change over year, both engines were used.

chances are its a suzy tank,

150 sqid just for a tank is a lot.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

I did - on Monday. I said Hi, and asked if he knew if it was from a rotax bike.

He emailed back to say "Minimum £250 - Call me if you want it".

Not the most helpful seller in the world huh?!

The rotax one has this curved recess on the underside, where it fits over the top of the rotax engine

Side panels and airbox are Rotax so the tank probably is,if you want a yellow bike thats not a bad deal to me if it stays at that price.

Thanks Cuz. I'll keep an eye on it.

Would it matter if they're from a black framed bike and my frame is grey?

grey/black Paioli/wp the same except earlier ones have a bigger fuel cap. Earlier Marzocchi have different indentations for(what looks like) the handle bar clamps but they fit the wp/paioli as well.

I would say its definitely a 644 fuel tank - in the second pic you can see the recess for the radiator on the left inner side (seen from front)...hopefully I`m wrong :(

Thanks Chris. I think you might be right. I've just been out to look at my rotax one and it doesn't have that long recess (where I guess the radiator would go).

I have had a lot of rotax tanks over the years, small and large and none have had the recessed filler cap area.
I would say definately 644.

Well spotted Chris. I remember on the old site that there was talk of a tank that fitted both when they moved from Rotax to Suzuki, which would be 2002. I have never seen one, anyone got one of these? The only sure way of finding out if this is one of them is to get the guy to photo the underneath.
