Hi Everyone,

I started to clean my exhaust the other day, as its very tarnished & started to rust.

So far iv'e polished the box & middle section to a mirror finish its just the front pipe left to do.

I managed to get the box & middle section of without any trouble, but one of the manifold bolts is siezed solid, (its the one closest to the frame), its so close that I cant get "Mole grips" etc on it.

Iv'e tried to give it loads of heat with the blowtorch, WD40'd it etc, then I rounded the allen bolt with the impact driver !!!

Im unsure if welding a nut to it would give me a better grip on it or not, any ideas folks ???

Thanks
:what: :what: :what: :what:
If it aint broke.....Dont fix it !!!!!

get a torq bit bigger than the allen key hole and belt it into the hole , the smacking of the bit in will help to free the grip of the threads . with the torq bit cutting its splines the bolt should come out . if not as i said it could be head off or engine out heat the ali around the bolt and not the bolt

if you weld a nut on you make the bolt brittle . and harden it . if its stainless and hardened it will break and be a complete bitch to drill out

and if you did not know before . i work in engine recons and do this shit almost every day

nope lol we only fix engines not degign or make them. maybe get a barrel bored out and lined but we dont get involved in it . only do liners in tractors or cast iron blocks .

there is a place in wolverhampton i have used to get liners fitted to bike barrels

http://www.jetbore.co.uk/Cylinder_Resleeving.html they may bore out a std barrel and fit an oversized liner . you would need to find a piston to suit the big end of your rod and the bore of the liner

jet bore will do it . i dare say you would have to supply the piston though. omega is the piston people . i have a barrel here that is fubar and would be ideal for an overbore . only thing with liners is if you have a cast iron liner im sure you need chrome piston rings and if you get it nikasil plated it needs cast iron rings .

if you just run a cast iron liner a rebore if you size it is easy but if its nikasil plated it would need a weld or two to fill the scores or holes then rebored and replated .

me perosanally i would go for a cast iron liner .

im sure the piston is about £200 then the price for the overbore then liner
