hi all has anyone ever taken a standard 604e exhaust apart ? there seems to be no obvious way of doing it ,but the baffles have broken in mine and it rattles all the time , i need to get them out , i dont want to buy a new exhaust as it would be too loud to start early in the morning as its my daily!!! ;) |

which can, race can with added baffle or the standard quiet one which looks like the baffle is welded in. If the later there is a knack, you have to remove the weld, get a mate to hold the can and with a drift hit the centre baffle not the outside, keep hitting till the whole insides and end plate come out, leaving your mate holding the tube and top plate, Its a large ferrous tube inside, tho there is nothing to repack. If the former, the end knock off, be carefull not to damage the ends, repack and knock back together then rivit ends |

Its a interferance fit, needs to be knocked right through, 3 or 4 good clouts usually does it, the inside is a steel tube welded to the inlet end. Usually cut the guts out and fit a 2" perforated tube and convert to race can, wieghs a 1/4 of the original, tho a lot louder so fit a baffle. As I said before, there is nothing to repack in the std can, its just a tube with metal chambers to route the gases around inside. |
