New to the site so thought i would post what i have done so far. got my ccm about 6 months ago a little tatty after spending 2 years outside under a cover. new plugs, oil, filters, and some little repairs to wiring and she came alive all be it not running very well.so decided on a good sort out. started with the loom ( what a joke lol ), i spent 5 nights making up complete new loom including new battery box to allow for bigger battery, every connection soldered and then heat shrinked, connected it all back up and to my supprise everything working as should be apart from indicators but new relay sorted that, next carbs off and cleaned, gubbins removed and tps adjusted K&N and jets fitted, it came with a aftermarket can. also added 45 rear sproket and 15 front, took her out for test ride couldnt believe the difference was well pleased. had some fun for few weeks then decided to get on with the repairs but due to change of job it was put off for a while but thankfully got back to it over the weekend, swingarm yokes and side casings dropped at polishers, frame, subframe engine mounts and rear shock spring dropped off for powder coating all should be back by saturday i hope. got new head light, rear light , all new plastics , so today started cleaning engine trying to get all corrosion off not much fun lol. it was suggested getting a kent cam or cam reprofile and hi comp piston what do you thing is it worth doing. hope u enjoy the read cheers Dave. |

Kent cam and a reprofiled one are the same. send them yours, will cost about £100. When we had the other site we used to send about 3-4 at the same time and got them done for about £65 Worth doing, not sure about a high comp piston, no one has sourced or tried to my knowledge, if you go the 710 route, you will have 12:1 anyway compared to 9:1 at present |

Cheers for the info on cam Monty I will definitely be getting it done. Iam sure I read on thumper talk someone putting in a 10 : 1 piston but maybe I misread I will look for post when I get a chance. I have been thinking about 710 kit for sometime but there seems to be quite mixed reports on reliability. So can't decide, the bike will be my main transport the wifes going to be stealing my Clio Cup lol. Not had a chance to sort some pics yet but I will. Got phone call from polisher tonight that's swingarm and yokes ready can't wait to pick them up. |
