Hi guys im hoping you lot can help,
I was on my way to the BSB at snetterton on sunday
And my bike just cut out, the were no bangs or metallic
Sounds. Rolled into the layby, tried starting and nothing
It sounds like the starter is has no load on it.
So tried the kickstart and it felt light and made a ticking sounds
Also if i put it in gear i could move the bike with the clutch out
Any ideas??
Thankyou

Do a wet and dry compression test first.

remove plug and fit compressor, spin over note pressure.

Squirt a few cc's of oil down the plug hole and test again

if no change to readings then valves are letting by, if on second test compression is up then rings are letting by.

head will come of in the frame, you may have to remove starter motor and front mounting bolts so engine will tilt forward, also remove tappet covers,

new O rings in for sale section.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Thanks for your advice guys, just picked the bike up and done
Abit of investigation, the cam belt snapped which i had replaced 2000 miles ago
So im guessing at the least a bent valve :(
Has anyone had any experiances like this if so what was the damage?
Oh i put the old belt on and no joy so ive got the cam which
Smashed it all lol

i cant say what damage you have done, but the head removal is very easy,i did mine last week,i had to remove the starter, front engine mount bolt, carb and top rear engine mount/ Stabilizer, and cam covers then tilted the engine forward and removed the head, obviously you have to remove the cambelt cover but you have already done that,i bought my new o-rings off monty

try putting two screwdrivers or small tyre levers at opposite sides and lever it off, theres also a threaded hole you can screw a bolt into, mine came off with the levers

The exhaust valves are bentso need replacing. the piston looks ok apart from two little marks.
Will this affect the running of the bike?

The bent valves wont help :D

Sorry, the marks on the piston will be fine, lucky they did not go through, shame cos they are the expensive ones, inlets are cheaper

Make sure you get the tension right on the belt when you refit and check the upper cambelt wheel for wear as this is what causes the belt to snap.
