Hi all,

Does someone have the base carb settings for the Dellorto PHM 40 please ?

I could do with the settings for both the standard can and also the CCM branded race can. I've set mine up with the settings that I use on my Husaberg 501 which has the same carb, but, it's still running really badly.

I'm going to replace the plug and HT lead and cap just in case one of these is breaking down.

Thanks,

Barry

std main jet is 175, if open air box, ie side cut out or lots of holes, wih race can, a 185 will do.

float height is 17mm, manual says 18, but several have found the 17mm works best.

air screw 1 and a 1/2 turns out. pilot I think is a 40 std.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Thanks for that, I have a 40 pilot and the air box has no lid. I'd set the idle to 1 and a half turns out and used both a 175 and 185 main with the standard can and could barely get her to start and she would cough and splutter as soon as you wound in any throttle. I've put the race can back on this afternoon and she now starts beautifully, going to give her a run later to check !

It got so bad yesterday that I got the ultrasonic cleaner out, dismantled the carb and cleaned it properly, unfortunately it only made it look better

I've never come across a can that could cause running that bad before, mind you, when I got my 404 it had the CCM 'race' kit fitted to de-restrict it which seemingly didn't include new jets so it was running so lean that I had to put a whole bottle of octane booster in it to get it home without overheating :o

Thanks again,

Barry

The rotax does not have a air box lid,

Did you set the float height? cos they run shite if not correct.

Are there cut outs in the side of the air box, like my sig pic

Hi,

The float height seemed OK so I left it alone. Just come back from a bit of a blat and putting the race can on has completely sorted it out, I can only assume that there is a blockage in the quiet one, I'll take it apart and find out..

Funny you hold say about the air box lid, my best bud has a late 2000 with a 640 engine which came with a snorkel lid which he removed and then did the same mod as you.

Cheers, Barry
