Dislike Almost certain something else will break sometime soon Like Almost certainly be able to fix it. Oh and its great to ride, I've done 12,000 miles in 3.5 years including a few >350mile days, and six months off the road when my gearbox made its bid for freedom Can't see me ever getting rid of it (I've got to many spares!!!)

I love my 404, but something as light with a 500cc fuel injected lump with mappable euc in modern trim and build quality I would buy tomorrow |

Likes: Big single ottomans 4 stroke, any new CCM must be a big thumper but would go against the trend of smaller engines that are eco freindly and comply with regulations etc.. the sound of beast and the ruff/raw aggressive styling like that it is a bomproof that goes and goes minamal maintanace except retightning bolts that want wriggle free but thats the nature of the beast, that why two bolts and bike half stripped. handling and rideabillity is also supurb dislikes: obsolete parts, cost of new spares, difficult to find aftermarket parts.

Hi to all - my views on 644 ds, No bike is perfect - to me the 644 ds comes close - if designs for a new bike how about a ts (tri sport !). This could be direct or better competition with "adventure bikes" - they don't have current capabilities of CCM ds:- supermoto back road scratching and light weight trail bike (compared to reviews in bike magazines 644 ds is lightest 650 supermoto/trail). Additional interchangeable components to wheels, to allow touring ability on top of road, trail :- frame/side racks for panniers, larger tank, touring seat, headlight (road capable with sufficient lighting for motorway speeds. Bad points of 644 ds:- Seat uncomfortable on long journeys (done 350 miles plus in single journeys!!) Corrosion (frame, spoke nipples, all fasteners) Headlight for road use Petrol tank range Good points of 644 ds:- Genuine dual sport - 2 sets of wheels Amazing handling and braking Light weight for engine size Look of bike Quality components fitted (got all components as fitted to street fighters - Brembo, White power, remus, Acumen ect) Suzuki engine and exhaust sound Never have to paint body work Riding position The ds is by no means perfect, but it totally changed my outlook on bikes. Grew up riding LC's, Power valves, FZ's and GSXR's - found a bike that suits me better and would never go back. For me the handling way exceeds my sports bike riding ability and cornering. Find myself seeking out twisty b roads, roundabouts, anything to lean it over. I don't need to be doing illegal speeds to have fun. Apart from winter and a few rough roads/tracks have'nt used off road wheels as intended, so can't really comment fairly. I shall be looking into an additional bike with touring ability in about a year, am considering a Yamaha XTZ660 (it has'nt got interchangeable supermoto wheels though !) - depends on rumored new CCM! The XTZ to me is the bike a new CCM could be capable of being, with a few designed features from current CCM riders feed back. Look forward to seeing rumored bike !! :) |

I have a 404DS and have just purchased a 604 Supermoto...... 404 Likes Almost the best suspension for trail riding that I've ever had. Used to have a Kramit with Ohlins and Paoli which may have been a tad better, but not by much. Great strong engine which doesn't make me grey with worry like my Berg  Good looking, I think it's a great looking bike. Dislikes A bit on the heavy side. Fasteners pretty much throughout are just rubbish, always replace with S/S when I do anything The rad shroud fixings into the tank are a joke, same with much of the plastics fit. Overall I'd say that with some niggles over detail, which could be easily sorted, this has to be one of the best trail bikes ever. 604 Only had this a few days, however have ridden one belonging to a mate quite a lot. Pretty much the same thoughts overall, great engine and cosmetics let down by some poor attention to detail when specing the finishing bits. But, they do crash really well, even on the road :o What I'd love to see is a properly specified lightweight twin pot adventure bike with a decent fairing and seat that you can do all day on. Something like this really http://www.rallytwin.com/ but at a price that non lottery winners could afford. Cheers Barry |

just seen this.. so here goes.... rotax engined ds .... likes... how good the handling is, paioli's and wp .... it can be leant over till the footpegs scrape and then a bit more.... sounds awesome... full scorpion race exhaust helps.. how parts are interchangeable between ds and r30 .. bodywork etc.. talon / excel wheels... nice.. set of sm and off roaders kick start .. only on rotax ( iirc)... helps when battery dies.. dislikes... crap standard battery... utter , utter shite... replace with a hayabusa one at the factory.... crap headlights .. ds.. gotta be some better ones surely... build quality.... paintwork ..grey frame.. flakes like a dry scab.... bodywork paint on r30 can be very dodgy too.... the way the seat is attatched... had to alter the bracket several times, as it doesnt always line up... standard front brakes... mine were horrendous... front disc cracked in about 6 places.... replaced with beringers..... superb... standard fasteners... all mine have been replaced .......... as for a new bike........ well, i think the sv 650 engine in a ft 35 would be a no brainer..... stunning looking bike, with a great engine, with tuning opportunity too.... but not the sledgehammer... that just doesnt look right.... or the new rotax, that aprillia are using, its a tiny v-twin and in a ccm... ooh yes... an update of the ccm with just better build quality and attention to detail, a bit more power, but still the same user friendliness, no 500 mile services ( cos id have to service mine in the middle of a ride out) , i tghink to get a good picture of whats been a problem with the ccm's, see whos had theirs a good few years and see whats been done to them.... like me, marc, monty.... and whoever is now on here.... |

Just joined the forum, so this is my first post.. I'm on my 3rd one now, so there must be something about them Had 2 R30s. A Rotax one and a Suzuki one. Now with a 644DS I like the individuality I like the sound (MHP can) I like the chuckability I like the fact that the more involved you are with riding it the better it responds Ilike the way people stare at the Union Jack emblems and think 'really?' Ilove my Maxxis tyres. AWesome grip and they last ok too Ilike the fact that when its chucking it down (which most days this year it is) Istill take the bike and dont head for the car I hate the headlight. I'd go so far as to say its down right dangerous. I'm currently fitting a halogen bulb cos ANYTHING has got to be better than std I think the overall quality is poor, which for a bike with such good components is a shame The seat fixing is stupid. Who whould engineer something with captive nuts held in plastic? The facia on the Acumen speedo always comes adrift, the decals have shrunk so they have left a glue surround to them Idislike getting a facefull of slop from th front mudguard, cos it really is an example of foorm over function Most of all tho, its the individuality I like Andy |
