i think its 4 thou in 6 thou exhaust but i ma be wrong . its something like 3 to 5 inlet and 5 to 7 exhaust. i may be totally wrong . monty or cuz will know for sure |

I set them up as Paul says 4 thou inlet 6 thou exhaust, tho the manual does say 0.05mm. now thats confused ya, thou and mm When I do them for others I use 4&6 thou You decide :D |

4 thou is the lowest we go at work for anything . under that is less than the thickness of a newspaper page . ( newspapers are around 3 thou ). the thing with a 4 stroke is when it goes quiet tappet wise then you should worry as it will be too tight and burn the valve and seat if the valves open a fraction as its forced through a narrow gap rather than i wide gap . also if a valve opens more than a quarter of its diameter you wont get any more gains from it |

it is confusing . the autodata books tell you in mm and we set them in thou. we skim heads by the thou . we measure big ends and mains in inches and mm . i get confused every day lol |

I've always set my 865 cam tappets at 4/6 thou and my 860 at 6/8. Maybe rotax quote 0.05 for some plodding cam. Was talking to Arge the other day about knackered cam wheels on the rockers and he pointed the finger straight at badly set tappets...be warned!! |
