update...
got the above bushing and the top hat wont go in ? but the spindle [swing arm bar] will...bit of movement along the spindle but a nice tight fit in the swingarm.. ? dosent look like its very strong unlike a sealed wheel bearing which I think is what we all need/want..

so gonna probably use the new oilites that arrived too...got new tophats and they fit no different to old ones so the old oillites had worn ..

waiting on replacement spindle to see if my old one is worn...

feel free folks to give comments and feedback lol...
oh cock the LME16UU Closed Linear Ball Bushing with Rubber Seals 16x26x36mm won't fit cos its 16mm internal diameter
the internal diameter needs to be 20mm.
Top Hat OD = 20mm
Spindle OD = 16mm

if you run the 16mm spindle in the LME16UU you are changing the design and removing the top hat as pivot

Yep..found that out..

Ive bush waked the bush in swing arm and it fits nicely..with just pivot bar its smooth and snug...

Is there any reason we cant that way and loose the top hat as its running on rollers in bush ..ill use plenty grease...

ROB ? What does you think...

spoke to engineers at work about this when i originally was trying to improve it
they said it was changing the design and altering stresses/bearing surfaces and engineering words i didn't understand :D

Ordered oillite bushes. £15.55 delivered from simplybearings. Hope I don't need bushes for a while.
Thanks for the upgrade information as the needle bearings aren't the best idea for this bike.

okay..sweated my ass off in the sun and the old linnear closed sealed bearings where showing play but the seals where still good...anyway think the reason they went so quickly was lots of freeplay along the shaft..I must not of had the nuts done up tight enough so the swing arm moved left to right along shaft..increasing wear..

I used the bushwaker tool and removed and replaced with new olites and top hats..zero movement now along the shaft as Ive welded the nut on one side ...see how long these last...

shame another swing arm couldnt be used so a better bearing/seal as its a real pain and weak point on a great bike..Honda would be a good choice.

Just wondered how people are get on with the bushes replacement? How are they going as I am thinking of using them on the 404DS for for green laning? I presume the swinging arms are the same so need to order the same sizes?

Thank you

The olite bushes are okay but wear fast when green laning due to muck and suspension travel...on the road im getting better mileage from.them..

Next time im going to get a 2nd hand swing arm and try and modify it to use better roller bearings and proper seals...

Ill.update as and when but it wont be soon lol...also use the grease nipple on mine better thannit does at moment...i wont be beaten.

As Tramp says
R30 ones have been in mine for 10,000miles ish

Different size on 404. Search as there was a thread on it
I'd get 6months racing/green laneing on mine

Thanks Rob.... the standard ones have lasted quite well on mine so I was lucky although there quite expensive to replace if you factor in bushes as well arent they OEM.

Nylatron GSM looks interesting but it would have to be bought as a blank and machined to the right size!
06' 644. 150 main jet, 27.5 pilots, needle @ 2nd rich, air screws @ 3 turns out, K&N with airbox lid....on and unknown unrestricted end can. Now goes like sh1t !
