Oh no! I was so pleased you'd managed to sort it out. That's a right kick in the gonads. It's not an obvious one is it - you haven't run out of fuel/turned the tap off for any reason? |

Can you hot wire the bike as a temp just to rule out connectors and switches. |

BATTERY!!!!!! swapped the old battery that had been on charge overnight in....and she took again. battery that came off read just over 12v, new battery from charge read 13.2v. I remember when I first swapped the batteries and she took, the new one that went in was around 13v. perhaps the spark given is better with a good charge on the battery. Now need to find the source of the battery drain issue. I re-did and simplified the loom myself (feels peoples eyes rolling), and included a simple RF controlled immobiliser on the ignition circuit as the security instead of a key. This was drawing only about 0.04A (rough calc says that would take over 200 hrs to drain the battery), but that was obviously enough to drain the battery over time. Ripped this out, shoved in a fully charged battery, and will give it a few days, see if I get repeatability, or if this battery drains, cant see why, as its only connected to the starter relay, one side of the starter relay switch, and the reg/rectifier. Reg/rectifier is actually drawing some current when bike isnt running....my meter says 7mA....anyone comment on whether thats normal? It is giving me 13.8v (0.5A more than battery voltage) across battery when running, again, normal sign of healthy reg/rect? I don't want to say it, but I miiight be coming to the end of my issues here, and may get the rest of the work done to this bike before the rains set in and she goes to the shed for ANOTHER winter. Once I am done, will make a separate thread with bits and bobs I'll be looking to get rid of. Thanks again for everyones help, maybe see you guys on the road before the season is out! MP |

What battery did you put on? Is it the standard ccm battery? I put a brand new battery in my rotax and it started twice before dying, chucked in a hayabusa battery and always worked ... |

believe it is the standard specced one. it was apparently a new battery when I got the bike a year ago, so never suspected it. whats the battery code for the 'busa battery? considering swapping out if its going to make my life easier. Cheers, MP |

My standard battery pooped itself early on. Got two attempts at starting then nothing till charged again. Put in a VFR400 battery donated by my brother and touch wood still going strong nearly two years later. |
