Ive been recently watching videos on youtube ( I know dangerous..)to see other peoples rotax bikes running as i cant seem to set my idle below 2k without it dying. Problem is listening to my bike it sounds like bikes idleing lower.this seems the same through the entire rev range ie power comes in later and goes on higher than should? I think i have a stock cam so cant be that. Is there a way to calibrate the rev counter? Or is this possibly a bad earth? Etc anyone encounter similar problems?

What rev counter do you have?
I drink too much, I swear too much, I ride too fast and I crash too often.

I have the stock r30 one? Are they known for playing up? Today on the way home it seemed ok but on the way in it was reading high. I just listen to the engine now

I'll be honest and say I don't know. If it had been an aftermarket one, it may have been an easier fix... It would probably be prudent to check the wiring though...

if the feed wire comes off the coil pack, it should be pretty accurate

No, tha's the neutral. It comes directly off the coil.
