While replacing my sprag spring I've gone to lock my crank sand the locking bolt is just turning in the casing , it doesn't lock the crank properly as I can wiggle the bolt and hit comes out. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Helicoil ? re-tap . I'm not sure what size helicoil, tap , drill sizes etc . I would have to order taps ,helicoil etc as I don't have them at hand. The locking bolt was from sportax not a homemade job.

Thanks

helicoil, std 8mm bolt. Done a few in my time, dont need to be that tight to hold the crank as long as you have a point on the end of the bolt
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Thanks Monty, ordered a helicoil kit off the bay earlier , I think I should drop the sump to retrieve the piece that gets snapped off the insert & the drill swarf. I'm changing the oil as half of it is on the feckin drive anyway.. feck .

Its been one of those days where everything I touch goes tits up. :what:

Nice thing is, just drop the plate under the engine and at same time clean the sump filter, only 6 x 6mm cap heads

Yes , ordered a sump seal kit from sportax , I put new mesh in last year so it should be straight forward .

Thanks again Monty.

Be careful with the helicoil.. especially when putting the blanking bolt back in.. I've seen them where the helicoil then screws into the engine which is not good.
I use time sert which have a flange so can't screw into the engine. It is possible to fit on 600's with the crank out of view and sump removed to collect the swarf...

Thanks for the tip, would I be able to put a small amount of threadlock on the helicoil when inserting to stop this happening.?

Thanks

Worth a try I guess.. fit the sump after you've fitted the blanking bolt... that way you check all is well..

Mechanical fitters at work gave me some thread lock and told me to put a dab on to keep it in place. having a crack at it tomorrow.

Thanks
