So.... summer is round the corner...fitted new sprag, filter, oil change etc and the rotax is fresh and ready 😆 also fitted new float in the dellorto and needle valve/housing etc and the bike seems a little bit different lol
Starts fine...seems to run ok...idle ok, but the power comes in one great big wave?? Naked k&n filter, remus ccm race exhaust, 185 main, k32 needle as before?? Rev counter is seems to do as it pleases if thats any clue? 😕

Took it for a motorway blast today and seems to struggle above 70mph... choke on helped so thinking main jet is too small. Im going to try a 195 from my current 185...any ideas on the best needle size for 195? Currently k32? Thanks in advance

Do you have an airbox?? I'm running no airbox, k&n, race system and a 200 main jet.... So 190/195 could be a good starting place

just a bit lean, 185 is meant for running with an airbox with holes and open can

Also? Complete noob but is the needle clip richer towards the point or the throttle cable?

richer towards the point, as you're lifting the needle up, which allows more fuel in :)

Moved circlip to 3rd clip and top speed is restored 😃 Thanks Monty
Quick blast and 90+ mph is acheivable "on private land"😨 bottom end is still a bit sluggish with baffle in end can. Baffle removed bottom is better but starting is more difficult? Idle remains good??

i dont rate the CCM remus cans, deffo not the standard, and the race can is just loud and nothing else, both weigh a ton too.
get a decent aftermarket can.

as for bottom end, whats you bike specs, any engine work, cam etc?

Remus can is a race one. Yep...very loud so tried an ebay baffle which restricts sound and performance...new can needed. Struggling though as all the decent ones seem to be too big id? Possibly shim?
Ive stripped carb, cleaned and set float height etc. New brisk plug on order. I think starting probs etc may be electrical. Put my battery on charge whilst carb off cleaning and it took about 2.5 hours to charge?? I will refit it and do some checks on rectifier. Rubber manifold boot is not cracked so may do all gaskets on carb if no joy? If rec fails i may try and fit an alternative as r30 ones are big, expensive and difficult to source. Was thinking of using cbr 600 rec? Any thoughts?

Whether 2.5 hours is a bad thing depends on how flat your battery was and what sort of charger you have. As long as the battery turns it over fast enough then it is good enough. All rectifiers are pretty much the same inside but the rating has to be at least the same.
Do you use the decompressor for starting?
It took me about a year to find a suitable and affordable can, in the end I got a nice titanium one that someone had made as a one off.
Sportax should have their new full exhaust system available very soon which might make a few cans avaialble as people upgrade.
2001 Rotax 640e Supermoto and 1998 350 Enfield Bullet.

I can only start the bike with the decompressor unless i kick start. Battery is a motobatt about 6 months old. When new it turned bike over without but now it wont turn unless decomressor is on. Battery also changed shape/ bloated after a month or so? Flat surface it will rock hence my worries about the reg rec. I ran it today but best idle seems acheived with fuel screw 1/2 turn from closed? This seems like it should be too lean but if i put choke on whilst running it bogs and dies?
Local garage left my rear wheel loose after adjustment on mot so dont really want to take it to them again

Ok...battery is 12.7v bike switched off. Bike off lights on battery drops to 11.9v. Bike idleing across terminals is 12.5v? Is battery and rec cooked?

You should get about 14v with the engine running, sounds like the reg/rect is not working. my 604 is running a suzuki 644 reg/rect, made a adapter plate up to mount in same place.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Brisk plug arrived, starting is more difficult but still running great. New yellow battery on order. Tested reg rec...all diodes are testing 4.34 etc so rec seems to be working but not properly. Bike running revved it still stops at 12.5v and remains constant? I,ll try a new rec poss off a different bike? Any thoughts? Was thinking cbr600 900 for availability? Ive heard r1 recs are bulletproof?
