Morning and happy new year to all,
On the to do list this year is possibly fitting a Mikuni carb. After replacing various Dellorto bits, it still needs more so, cost of replacing more bits to new carb. Here we go. I cant find on here what type people have used,??? Theres quite a few to choose from also who makes the bracket to attach to the rotax?

Hi Ant, Happy New Year!
Ive an assortment of brackets and hoses for the VM44 which i inherited when i bought Sportax. There were no carbs tho. Ive never seen one fitted or seen any dyno results - I'd love to see members bikes who have got the VM44 fitted.

From time on the dyno last year, my plan is to test the Dellorto 40 with the accelerator pump as this is what we felt would improve the bigger Rotax's. Ive heard the VM44's coupled with the 860 cam are fine if your Carl Fogarty or Chris Walker but nipping down to the shops and through town they are a bit of a nightmare!

Thanks!
Its reassuring to know these things are possible, not trying to turn a tractor into a 1098R but mine has ran much better than it is currently?? Only recent change has been sprag, oil and filter, battery and carb float. Now it seems after cleaning the carb a float needle would be a good idea? Just want to get it back to the bike i love

Can the pump be fitted to the stock phm 40? It seems to have a blanking plate? Also because of the pump, do they generally run smaller jets? Ive seen various dell carbs with said pump but jetting seems much smaller than mine

So I've been reliably informed, the pump can't be retrofitted as the internal drillings etc. aren't drilled...

You can find PHM40 pumpers occasionally. They were fitted to Guzzis and Ducatis of old, and a few Husqvarnas and KTM's of ageing vintage.

I got mine for around £70 in a used condition with a velocity stack! Sorry, intake trumpet...
I drink too much, I swear too much, I ride too fast and I crash too often.

It is a universal impossibility for me to leave my tools alone and my bikes standard. 'It must go faster!!'

as Gonzo said our Dell's do not have the plumbing to fit.
if you get a secondhand phm40 with the pump it needs to have the Heavy slide, these are a must for big singles.

cant say on jet size as yet, but there will be solid data within the next few months, if there is a difference in jet size, i wouldnt think it would be much, as the pump is really for when you crack the throttle, not for normal running as such ..

vm44 and 860 carb is great, not bad in traffic or anything, and as much bottom end as ever.

Phm 40 with pump on route! Can not wait to fit it then start looking at exhaust cans and hopefully some of Garys scorpion stub-less downpipes.
Feedback coming soon!
