Read a few blogs which don't recommend going 710cc because it puts to much strain on the bottom end and the motor wasn't designed for it.What about the old DR 750 & 800 are they not essentially the same bottom end as our ccm?

Not my ccm, but maybe yours!

I would say a tuned 644 makes more power than the dr800 anyway, so when you start tuning the 710 its just getting further into kaboom territory.

more of a power limit than a cc limit, likewise the rotax can crack the case over 65hp, not seen it happen but you can buy billet cases for racing them so it must have happened.

The DR750/800 is a completely different engine. Far more robust, and a damn sight bigger.
I drink too much, I swear too much, I ride too fast and I crash too often.

It is a universal impossibility for me to leave my tools alone and my bikes standard. 'It must go faster!!'

I'll be able to tell you soon enough how well it handles 790 cc. I have the big bore kit on order from
ProCycle. They say they've run the 790 cc kit, with a more aggresive cam, for a long time (years, I think) without issues. That's on a DR though, with the less flowing head so less peak HP. According to them, the bottom end of the DR is "bulletproof". Then again, since they're the seller, they would say that, wouldn't they?

As far as bore goes, I think 790 cc (110 mm bore) is very close to the limit. More than that and you need to modify the crankcase to fit a bigger cylinder sleeve.

Once you have fitted the 790 bore, You will be the first to try it as far as I'm aware on a CCM, It had been spoken about on older forums but never done to my knowledge.
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Interesting. Yeah, I'm curious as well. There's got to be something gained from the bigger valves and dual carbs compared to the DR. Possible different ignition timing too. I know the redline on the CCM is set slightly higher than the DR, and it makes peak power higher up in the power band.

Not sure how much figures will mean, since dynos differ wildly, but it would be nice to come close to 60. Might not be possible though.

My ccm came with the 710cc big bore kit and a dyno print out showing 46bhp at the rear wheel. What kind of torque do these engines produce?
