Well I bought my 1999 604e at the end of October. After owning it for about 2 hrs it died on me.When I pushed the button it sounded like it was mixing a protein shake. Not the CCM experience I had hoped for .After nearly 2 months in the garage ,new top pulley, new valves ,guides etc, head was sent away for machining to get the valve seats re-cut.Apparently the decomp rod was not factory standard thus the valves were not fully seated so that is now sorted. Swingarm bearings had collapsed, so new bearings fitted & a few more botch jobs fixed from previous owners, plus quite a big bill just before xmas.

The culprit, top pulley had let go and the belt was rubbing on the inside of the cover until they had been all chewed away. Hmmm splines

It's kickstart only at the minute, it's only a case of rotating the starter casing until it works,I did that myself when It first went tits up as I thought it was a starter problem and had a fiddle with it. It feels and sounds like a totally different bike than the one I bought 2 months ago. So to cheer myself up I bought some acerbis hand guards and got the rear rack powder coated at work.

Just got to put 300 miles on it now before the head bolts get re torqued.

Thanks for the comments everyone, the rear shock could do with tidying up though. I might get some tank decals from Haines in silver, fit some indicators & maybe a Quill can. When do you stop though :chin:

I know the expense´ll hurt. But it´s looks are worth every penny. And you wont get a new bike like that from the shops any more.
