My brother is stripping his R30 down and has snapped one of the exhaust bolts in the head leaving a bit sticking out and the other one intact still in the head.Am I right in thinking he could hear the snapped bolt up with oxy/acetylene to help get it out?Anybody had this issue and if so how did you resolve it?

Ally head, probably better to use a regular blowtorch and heat the whole area as evenly as possible. Lots of penetrating oil for a few days prior if you've got the time. And when trying to get it out, GO EASY! Last thing you want is to snap the rest of it off...

EDIT: reason you heat the area and not the bolt is that ally expands at a different (faster) rate to steel and you want the head to let go of the bolt.

I drink too much, I swear too much, I ride too fast and I crash too often.

It is a universal impossibility for me to leave my tools alone and my bikes standard. 'It must go faster!!'

If all else fails, drill it out and run a tap down the thread, I have done many that way, though its a lot easier with the head off, it can be done in situ
If it aint sharp I can play with it

+1 for slipping a nut over the stump and welding it on :-)
as said you can drill it out if it don't work ...cobalt drill bits are cheap enough at toolstation

I always try the welding of a nut first even if its broken off flush.
You also find the injection of heat from the welding help as well.

try that or weld a new nut on the stud
Then get a socket on it whilst everything is hot
