Hi all :drinks:

Quick question...

Front forks on 604.
Conventional or USD? Any real advantages of either?
I understand the USD would probably be stiffer from the handling perspective but are the conventional lighter?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated :-)
I have had USD previously but have always liked conventional looks, just old school i guess.
Cheers

i'm guessing you have the Paioli's on at the moment, are they gold or blue? i have found the gold to be slightly shorter than the blue.

anyway .. it depends what you plan on doing with the bike,
if this is purely looks and you only ride on road or light green laning, then stick with the RWU

if you fancy doing some proper off roading, with lots of rocky ground on a regular basis then it may be best to upgrade.

you will have to get a head stock tube made up, and if you do swap then dont bother with the 43mm WP's.
just go straight for the 48mm (fitted to every KTM since 2002) and also grab the top and bottom yokes to fit the new head stock tube into.
you will be looking at £500 ish for this swap depending on how cheap you get the parts for, and if they need a service.
try to get them off a bike 400cc+ or you'll need to change the springs too.

Thanks Jonny,
Not got the bike yet, its going to be in supermoto trim as can't do the rough stuff anymore.
Good info though and thanks very much.
Currently on the hunt for a 604/636 yr 2000 or slightly before, hence the forks question :-)
Cheers

Paioli's
blue steel 98-99
gold - 99
WP 43mm - 2000 (in less you grab a REAL R30 race bike then you get the 48mm
