Hi guys, looking to put some new rubber on my wheels and want to know what you guys would recommend for both dry and wet riding conditions? The tyres currently on my rims are like road legal slicks so ive only ever ridden in the dry as there is no grip at all when the roads are even slightly wet.

Many threads on tyres. A lot of people will recommend Goldspeeds, although you'll get through them at a pretty quick rate. They do stick like sh!t to a blanket though.

There's also some SM specific tyres, the K73, by Heidenau that, according to pretty much every review I've read thus far, are a direct rival for the Goldspeeds and are fairly cheap to boot! I shall be getting some for my 604 when the time comes for new rubber.

Both tyres are purported to be fantastic in both wet and dry conditions, however, as mentioned, they don't last an especially long time.

With the slicks it's a Supermoto it's Ment to slide around under you or just don't ride in the the wet lol

Quick question, would the K73 in the larger 160 wide profile for the rear of a 644? Have a continental contiavenue on atm and its pure *sugar*. I know the bike is meant to slide but it's like riding on ice.

My 604DS has a Tomahawk 160/60 on it at present (looks like a cut slick - f@ck all tread to speak of) with no clearance issues, so I'd imagine the 644 would also take a 160 without fuss.

big brands, michelin etc, a 160 will rub chain a tad, only a worry for Mot if spotted
cheaper brands, Maxxis etc, a 160 is fine and don't rub
they all measure em diferently, some carcass, some tread width

Would scrubbing the edge of the tyre with a grinder do? Trying to keep the bike semi legal in case the fuzz stop me for 'enthusiastic' riding. I think i'll go for a heidenau shortly. Really fancy a bit of wet winter riding

yeah, but it'd probably look more obvious than the chain rub, as that just does it in a wave pattern
see whether it marks it and maybe trim with a stanley blade would look smoother?
it did it to my 160 Mutant, but wasn't too bad

Done this before but here it is again the heidenau, they do come in two types of compoundk73Posted ImagePosted Image& it will fit without scraping the tyre too.

What compound did you go for? And what did they stick like?

Like I've said before this one is the harder compound & it fits fine, it comes with loads of mould release nobbles still on it & is an adequate tyre for the rear (didnt try the front) it is not as sticky as a goldspeed or Avon but it wears quite well (I got almost 2K from it to Bald) which I found ideal for winter. its not great for mud but OK for every thing else, a jack of all trades, but now the price seems to have gone up, I got mine for £68 fitted

Not bad at all. The reviews I read musta been for the softer compound. Still, sounds like a good tyre for the money...
