Hi I want to get my 644DS subframe strengthened and then powder coated. not sure if the 644DS sub frame is the same as some other CCM's. I was thinking of having some triangler steel plate (2mm max) welded behind the triangler supports that are already there (red out line in pic) ![]() Also thinking of having some rods put down the end. but these will only go as far as the triangular supports as there is a kink in the frame. ![]() thoughts? just need to find a welder now! Cheers |

I would just check the welds, clean them up first and see if any fractures are present. Maybe a few more tack welds here and there if it makes you feel safer. If you go down the route of welding bars on , don`t get too much heat into it as it may distort and be a pig to refit. |

yeah i think your right, having the welds beefed up will help. The thing i said i about having a bar put down the end...well, i'm not sure that's a good idea now??? the bar can only go just past the triangle support because the frame then kinks. so it will just make the back end of the subframe heavier?! so apart from having some welds beefed, and the triangular support doubled in thickness....there's not a lot more you can do? |
