`how do again folks.

i expect this is something thats come up loads of times but im looking at putting a push bike speedo on my ccm 644. im told that halfords do some that work and im told that the sigma sport 700 is a good one. has anyone ever used any of these> im on a tight budget for this build to im not after anything to expensive. also. are the cables long enough when you get them or do you have to stick a section in them?

thanks Kermit

I had a sigma (before fitting a vapor) & they work fine. But they have a small screen making it hard to read, also of you do go down this route get the 'wired' NOT a wireless one. The wires are long enough to reach generally.

yeah i know it would have to be a wired one but wasnt sure of the best one. we used the vapor speedo's on the street fighters. i went to see an old streetfighter builder friend of myn and as it turns out you can use your phone. i have the new xperia z3 so ive downloaded a really good app and now all i have to do is wait for the bracket to turn up...... having said that im rebuilding the bike and painting all the plastics at the moment so i wont get to use it all for a while haha

Well a phone has a larger screen than a cycle speedo, & it a 21st century solution to the old ways of measuring. Go on give it a go sounds like progress to me.....

In the good old days a knotted piece of string thrown overboard worked, thats the trouble with being old enough to have been head waiter at the last supper, we just got used to what worked for us, but if you got a poncy phone that does ot all it sounds a shame not to use it.

I done a writeup on this: http://forum.ccmmad.co.uk/topic/784945/1/

2 down sides, the sensor mounts on the stanchion so any REALLY hard bumps can compress the fork enough to push the sensor down the fork(you can just move it back up again), only worked to about 60mph then the reading got a bit unreliable.
