full set of bearings for the rotax including seals cost me £100, the bearings did not include the needle rollers on the gear shafts, a lot of them are c3's and the mains have to have the plastic cage, not the metal ones, as they fail very quickly,
If it aint sharp I can play with it

Hi Gareth good to see you today.. I can't even get the bearings and seals as cheap as monty. . If you wanted to purchase a full or part set and get monty to post them to me it's no problem.. I may even place an order myself at that price!

Cheers Mark, Gareths motor is partially stripped, ive not started work on it yet but there is no obvious play in the mains. For the price youre paying it would be worth while doing the lot I reckon. I'll look forward to receiving the list, then let you know once stripped down fully..

Regarding the cages ive seen both plastic and metal caged bearings failed. both types have brinelling / spalling to both races, probably caused by lack of oil or other debris. The extra vibration then probably causes the steel cages to break up.. worst one caused the primary drive gears to shed teeth!

Gareth's motor is next on the bench.. The cylinder is packed and off to Langcourts first thing to be repaired. Tomorrow i should have an idea of the state of the bearings.. If you wanted to purchase a set of Monty Gareth and have them posted here you can decide tomorrow..

How do i go about adding pictures directly to the thread anyone???

gotta do it through photobucket or another imagehosting site and use the either end of the link to the photo, we don't have the forum space to store photos on here unfortunately.

Motor stripped and all is well with bearings.. no play and no signs of wear. Damage limited to piston and cylinder... One odd thing tho it has only 8 clutch plates and v heavy duty clutch springs.. Its an mx motor so probably played with by previous owner. Sprag is also like new so no dramas there either.. pics to follow when i work it out!

Cheers re pics Mark and Jonny! I'll email the first batch later to you Mark until Jonny sorts my computer skills out!

The replate will be just to standard 604 and a new piston and rings - probably the most economical way to get it back up and running.. head and Valves will get decoked so all should be up well on the testbed next week!
