hello ,im just about to buy a supermoto and not sure which one to buy 604 rotax , 644 suzuki or a ktm 640 , im swayed towards the 604 rotax and was wandering if all the parts are still available for this bike.dont mind working on bikes but i want to ride ,not spend my time repairing .im just selling my suzuki tl1000r sportsbike mainly because of crap roads and to higher speeds.so i need something pretty lively and exciting to ride . i live in the new forest so lots of great roads for supermoto bike .just want some thoughts from experts who no these bikes inside out. cheers ian

Hello and Welcome Ian. I'd say Rotax is the better bike, Hursty will say Suzuki :-) Can't comment on ktm as I've never had one (other than the Rotax engine I had out of one) The Rotax are older so you need to be careful when buying. You can get all the engine parts for them but they can be expensive if buying new. The main (only) failing is the starter mech which needs the use of the valve lifter to keep it in good condition. Many previous owners might not have known this. That said it has the luxury of a Kickstart. When sorted these engines are virtually bullet proof and stay that way as long as servicing is kept up to date. Service is very easy and inexpensive and would only need doing once or twice a year depending on how much you use it. There's the 404 to look at as well if your going down the CCM route. Hope this helps.
If you get a Rotax we can fill you in on how to look after it.

Worked on a few ktms starter mech go's on them to. I could have got anything but chose a rotax my favorite engine.
Wouldn't mind a KTM 380 2 stroke.
