Hi Everybody,

I'm Sam, live around Leeds.

I don't own a CCM yet ... been recently eyeing up the 644 and 604 though. I am a biker and have a ZZR600 and CG125 (1981!!!) so know my way around them.

BUT

What is the difference between the rotax and the suzuki? I know this could open up a world of discussion but I'd like to know in actual user experience, are any more reliable than the other and are parts for the rotax as easy to get hold of as the suzi?

And if you've got one to sell... send me a message :)

All the best.

Thanks for the welcome guys and Ian if/when I get one you can show me some local routes if you're into the offroad deal? I've just ridden the road and I'd love to find a rotax/suzuki with some trail wheels aswell as road wheels.

Welcome, rotax vs suzuki is an ongoing debate, but ultimately the rotax has more potential power and a peach of a gearbox, can handle twice the standard power easily and is very nice.

Suzuki is said to be smoother and a bit more refined, can make decent power but not rotax levels. Gearbox seemingly not up to rotax standard especially when tuned.

Spares are probably easier for the rotax as the engine is used in loads of bikes, MZs, armstony, harley, aprilia, the army bikes 350s and 500s, probably more.

You can get loads of cams for the rotax which are swappable without taking anything the head off or engine out.

Either bike is going to be fun. I am biased towards the rotax ( I have 3).

Thanks for the response RB it's very helpful.

I take it both of these engines are easy to work on? I've just done the valve clearances on my ZZR and it was such a pain! It's shim in buckets on that one.

I like the idea of the Rotax now, especially as it's just a bit different to the big Jap manufacturers. (I use Jap as an abbreviation for Japanese, not a slur - I don't want to offend anybody at this early stage)

Welcome mate. I love my 604 and my mate has the 644, both great bikes - maybe see if you can find someone with either who'll give you a go?

Problem with that is i dont do off road, never have as i dont float my boat.
Your quite welcome to have a ride over here and have a play with a Rotax to give you an idea but bear in mind if you bought one it would not be like this one but.

Valves are really easy to do, you could do them on the side of the road if you had a 10mm spanner and stubby flathead.

I find the rotax lovely to work on, cam belt makes things a lot easier too id imagine, never did enjoy timing chains..

Thanks so much for the info guys. Just been told the landlady wants to sell the house so I've gotta hold on for a little while now. To have money for deposits and even more rent to pay and what have ya. Eurgh.

I've seen a total for sale, how easy is it to get the road wheels for these? Do many fit or would I have to get specific ones?
