Hi all,Iam posting this for stanbo1969,he recently joined,he has a 56 plate r30,he recently started having running problems, back firing excessively and cutting out when arriving at junctions when pulling the clutch in.he has tried a standard can and an aftermarket straight through.he put my spare carb on after discovering his air screws were seized, while off he up jetted,150 mains,27.5 pilots, still the same results,I have set his TPS as described in the how to do section and also tried my spare coil pack on,still the same results,it seems to misfire slightly on pick up/revving,he put new plugs in too, when riding the bike it seems fine, needle set at second clip from bottom, air screw 2 n half out. Any ideas for me to have a look at Cheers Jay |

Get a spray can of carb cleaner or similar, get the bike to idle and spray a little around the carb inlet rubbers ect and see if the idle speed changes. Just because you think everything is air tight doesn't mean it is. Especially if you have been whipping bits on and off. |

im thinking fuel starvation, just as my bike needs to go onto reserve it starts to back fire and want to cut out. And you mentioning when pulling up at junctions it wants to cut out, could be the little amount of fuel getting through is pushed away from the carbs. the fact youve changed carbs suggests it isnt them. just a guess |

Not looked at them as yet,Iam thinking lack of fuel or air leak. Just thought,I remember thinking when I looked in the fuel tank it seemed to have what I can only describe as over spray in there.i didn't think that much about it cos it runs so well when riding it,thought it couldn't be a blockage. Will try the brake/carb cleaner around he rubbers |

gremins eh....take the tank off, fuel lines and filter if it got one.flush/clean out with fresh fuel, discard the flushing fuel, swop the filter for a new one ,take the carb off, strip(totally)flush out, blow out with air line,b4 you put the tank on, run some fuel thru it into a clean jar,it wants to be absol clear . no discoulring or crud ,make sure the flow is constant, change the plug/plugs,check the wireing, cdi box, fuse box area's ,steering yolk area's too, when you get it al;l back togethor, air tight, fire it up,once running play with the wireing to make sure no vibes or water in the wireing are causing short outs etc, check the air filter .if its muddy or wet, take it off n clean it,if after all that no change, mmmmmm sounds like someone's been playing.you might want to start checking valve/cam timing etc...i'm assuming youre mech saffy and know within reason youre way round a bike.hope this helps, if nowt works, stop, av a brew, leave it for a while... and hide the hammer...lol.good luck fella

when you swapped the coil pack did you swap the whole unit, HT leads and caps? a split cap can produce these problems. the carbs moving as monty says does not sound right at all, they are properly fixed to the inlet all the way round? they can come off the inlet when mucking around trying to get the air filter manifold on right. |

Check any carb vents aren't blocked/joined incorrectly, I did this on my rotax t'other week and had very similar symptoms. float bowls should vent to atmosphere to maintain correct pressure/fuel level. |

Firstly just want to thank everyone for there input on this subject/problem,stanbo bought some carb cleaner today and sprayed the carbs, hay presto !! Both sides of carbs not sealed correctly.i took carbs off and also found that the guy who fit his jets had not put the needle on the second from bottom.started up afterwards ok,no popping on throttle increase,no stalling, test ride came with thumbs up, So stanbo rode off into the distance, only to return to pick a car up that I have for sale to valet it(4hrs worth) Happy days Again everybody, thank you all very much.
