I went for a ride today and my fears from what I saw on Saturday turned out to be true ........ the tourists are back

Cars stopped around blind bends opposite double white lines while they check the sat nav, I must have flat spots on my front tyre from dramatic stops today, then there's always some prick who doesn't like being over taken by a 'yokel' on a noisy motor bike (I must get that Kent cam in) ...... BMW Z4 with the roof down (playing Buns & Roses) about a foot from my tail all through the lanes until we reached Frocester Hill, put the CCM in 3rd and just roared up and around it ...... the BMW didn't make the last turn and was last seen ploughing at high speed :D :D

So I thought a quick refuel and refreshment break at Bourton-On-The-Water was a good idea .... jammed with grockles, when I took my helmet off it sounded like I was at Blackpool ..... fill the tank, bottle of water and a flapjack sees me gone

Fed up with the Cotswolds I went over the Bridge to Pant -Y - Glas, not to ride it, on a DS then yes, but not on my R30, lovely ride there, but as I past the road sign to it a car coming the other way flashed me, sure enough next village police speed van, so Monmouthshire was out for the day

Back through Monmouth and into the Forest of Dean, more tourists, back to riding down the Wye Valley .... more tourists

Anyone else 'experience' tourism at the blunt end?

OK so whats a "grockles"

More tourists arriving 5th Aug, well me anyway

Sounds very much why I stopped going to the lakes in Aug, too many muppets in boxs ruining the passes, So if most go there there will be less of them in Wales
If it aint sharp I can play with it

What's a grockle

More tourists arriving 5th Aug, well me anyway
I'll make sure to get the biggest string of agricultural tractors I can together just for you ...... 63 in a continuous line is the most we've managed to date, traffic signals mean nothing to a New Holland that would just drive over anything in it's way :D :D

Are you bringing the bikes or the wife??? :D :D

"grockle":- A holidaymaker, or one from out of town. Particularly used in the South of England, generally as a mildly derogatory term.

I wish those grockles would all go home

steve mate, satnavs ..another opportunity not to concentrate ...... I was employed for 3 years collating the digital mapping from paper, they were so bad I left in the end and to this day use paper maps ....

I'm lucky up here being in the Trough of Bowland, loads of nice roads and very few tourists. They all bypass us and go to the Lakes,Blackpool or if they're really insane Morecambe. You have to keep a weather eye out for the white heads on the gin run, but you usually shock them to a halt with noise and pass safely.

once ended up in morecambe on one of our bank holiday run outs - 20+ bikers. It was like something out of mad max all the O.A.Ps and coffin dodgers just stopped in thier tracks as we passed. we took over one of the tea shops for a hour or so, lovely home made cakes and hot piping tea. the old dear who owned it took a wedge off us that day.

Shouldn't really slag my home area off, Morecambe's a good ride out for a pose down the prom, great view over the bay... if you dare take your eyes off the road!
