I think I may have over tighten the chain the other day because after I adjusted the chain I went for a ride down the roads and overtook a mate and ten noticed that I had oil over my back wheel and when I got home for a propper inspection it's coming from the front sprocket is it just an oil seal do you think ? Please help

ross it is possible, there is a oil seal behinde the front sprocket, mine leaks a little and makes a right mess which im sorting.

you dont need to split the casings to replace it, just so you know i check my sprocket shaft and there is ZERO play, check yours to make sure you havnt done anything else!

do you know how to adjust the chain as its not like other bikes, as in you dont check the tightness at the bottom you measure the top of the chain.

Ahh I thought it was roughly an inch of play at the bottom and erm I haven't even thought about taking it apart yet was going to start it next week is it simple to change ?

its best to do it properly before you get an idea of what the chain should look like, so heres what you do.

1.put the bike on a MX stnad so the back wheel hangs free
2.adjust the top of the chain to 55-65mm play, you measure this just behinde the chain slider.

compard to other bikes the chain looks slack.

as for changing the seal i havnt done mine yet, but monty said to screw in some self tappers into the old seal so you can pull it out, then just fit the new one.

ps. dont forget to lock tight the 3 sporcket bolts when you put them back in
