12v charging phone on bike??

Right this is for the computer wiz kids on hereI bought one of these of eBay 300776312617 for the bike to charge up my i phone when on rally's ect I wired it all up this evening plugged my phone into it with the ciggy lighter n came up charging not surport on this device now so I thought must be the imoberliser causing problems so nocked that of fired bike up again same message on phone so I plugged my I pod into it and we was charging any 1 any ideas why my apple I pod will charge up but not my phone?? It dose charge on my snap on booster pack tho so I know its not my ciggy lighter?

are you using the same cable that you use all the time? .. it would seem iphone usb cables die quite frequently

Ye same cable it works on my I pod on the bike no problem! And my phone on the booster pack but not on the bike?!?

its usually the other way around , iphone will work but not ipad. think the ipad draws more power. i know the iphone charger wont charge ipad

hmm .. well main reasons for this message are cable or connection on the bottom of the phone dirty or damaged.

there have been issues with PC's where they had to much plugged in and the usb port wasnt getting enough power

Don't know its strange what voltage battery is needed to charge a phone ?? Maybe I should stick bike on optimate n then try when its fully charge ? Dose the I Pod take less voltage then my phone??

Just looked on back of my iPod its 5v so maybe phones more and that's why bit naffed of cas the whole ideae was to charge phone when on rally's etc :(

Its the USB charger youre plugging your cable into, there has to be a certain resistance between the 2 middle pins if the phone doesnt get that resistance it deems the equiptment not compatible.

If you buy another one make sure its compatible with iphones first cause theyre very picky, especially the new iphone 5.

yes m8 its a lot less, the ipod is just a posh mp3 player, your phone is a high tech mini computer.

This happend to me hursty but I bought a cheapo longer iphone charger from eblag it said this but the plugged into my genuine ipod charger then it worked but works ok on the Ipad :chin:

Mind boggling :blink:
