I went to adjust my "TPS" yesterday, not that my bike was running badly, just curiosity got the better of me to see if it was set up properly or not. Anyway when I went to undo the sensor, I noticed that one of the shoulders (bolt holes) had cracked & upon removal found it to be snapped completely. How pi**ed off was I   So now im after a replacement TPS sensor, as when I measured the resistance, I found that no matter where I positioned it, the reading was always exactly the same. So in fact it was not actually working at all since I bought the bike :'( :'( Anybody got a spare lying around, (before I order a new one) ? If you do drop me a PM to discus a deal (sexual favours not included)!!! :P :P |

seeing as your in the right position can you do me a favour please. i have heard that if you just disconnect the TPS sensor the bike will still run fine, the ecu will just choose the richest setting (which isnt alot). could you try this out and tell me your results please? |

The TPS sensor was removed from my r30 before I got it--- it runs perfectly well without it and the bikes now done 11k :) |

Hi jonny h, Mine runs all ok & I guess its not been working since I got it. It has always smelt rich when running, once the choke has been turned off after initial cold start. I have ran it with the TPS disconected & it feels exactly the same. ;) |

I phoned to find out how much a new TPS was today. Unfortunatley they are out of stock at the moment, they did tell me the OEM part no for it though (13550-13D60) so now I might be able to get one from my local bike shop !!!!! There was one on Ebay for a GSXR600/750, so I done some homework and found out that quite a few Suzuki engined bikes ran with the same 'TPS' so I might be able to cross-reference one that way, if all else fails :-/ This might help someone else, if you have the same dilema as me. |

Udate of the saga of my TPS problem !!! Been down to the garage & fitted the replacement TPS I got from eBay. I put it on & set it in the middle position as per factory fit, put the tester on it, got a reading of 5.41 so I opened the throttle got the same reading 5.41 DOH !!! Tried it in different positions always with the same reading 5.41, even tried a different meter still the same. :-/ :-/ :-/ So out for a quick blast around the block, felt exactly the same as before. What the F**ks going on ???? Have I bought a knackered sensor or what ???? To say i'm well pissed off would put it lightly. :'( :'( :'( Any ideas folks ? |

you are testing it correctly, measure across out side pins to get reading ie on yours 5.41 cable tie throttle wide open, Then measure across middle pin and right hand pin, obviously with plug removed, you should get a lower reading |

Happy to say its "all good now", as Monty pointed out I was doing it wrong !!! (the cold got to my brain). I was not measuring between the middle pin when the throttle was open fully. STOP laughing !! :$ So the TPS from eBay was all ok after all. Thanks for the assistance, I now know for the future and can return the knowledge with others. Cheers all. |
